Memoirs of a Geisha

My husband and I joined Netflix over the weekend. Our daughter has gently been suggesting we do so for a couple of years. We are slow people but very sure.
Our first movie arrived yesterday. So easy!
We watched "Memoirs of a Geisha" last night.

I have never written a movie review. I either like a movie or I do not. In a theatre I will finish my popcorn and the movie. At home if I am not interested I do not stick. I have to get up for some reason and often have failure to return. My husband is like this as well.

I stuck tight to "Memoirs of a Geisha", my husband did not.
Part of the story was shot at night so many scenes are rather darkly lit. Older eyes, like mine, have trouble with the dimly lit scenes. I was interested not only in the story but in the costumes and the scenery. I hung in even after my popcorn was finished. John Williams score with Yo-Yo Ma was worth every minute. A sound track I will want to buy.

My husband wanted me to start a log of the movies we watch.
I heard blog!
Our "Q" is filling up.
What's in your queue?

Sherry, I love your idea of a movie review blog :-} I have not seen Memoirs of a Geisha but love the music of Yo Yo Ma. I can just imagine how wonderful the music score was! I am not familiar with Netflix ~ but the idea of watching a good movie in the comforts of home sounds perfect - especially on these cold nights :-} We are in the midst of another snow storm!!

Dear Deb,
Welcome to my Movie page!
I was creating and you found me! Amazing! I enjoyed this movie very much. There were some problems with it but I enjoyed the story and the music is delightful. I will be buying this score.
Netflix is a movie rental program that you subscribe to and the movies come in the mail. It is very reasonable and so easy. My movie is ready to mail back and another one will come in just a few days. There are different types of programs. We signed up for one movie at a time.
I am excited about watching movies at home. I just might want to get a new tv. Ours is 20 years old. It has some troubles. If I get into movies I would imagine I will be redoing the tv room!
I seem to be having some trouble today linking "Movies" on corner. I might have to ask my daughter, my IT lady, for some help!
Thanks Deb for coming by. Books, music, weather and birds. What will I do next?

Dear Cathy,
I agree. I liked the movie just fine. It was a bit Hollwood for me. It did go nicely with my January theme. The music is wonderful! I hope to get it tomorrow when my husband and I go shopping for our February treats.
I have a line item in my budget called "media". A way to save up for books and music and sometimes movies. Now I will not buy movies just have the Netflix. I might want to do two movies at a time since the turn around time seems to be four days. I will see.
I am filling up the queue. Our daughter sent all sorts of suggestions.
Happy February and may you enjoy many movies.

Sherry,

This is very awesome. My family and I do movie reviews with each other in emails frequently. I love to talk movies!

I have not seen this one, but it has been on my list to see for a while. I have heard that it was very good.

Yay for Movie Blog!

Love,

Dear Sprite,
I hope this works out for me. I already forgot to do the next movies we watched! I had already seen it so I did not stick. My husband did.
Netflix is a great way to rent movies. So easy.
This was a good film. I enjoyed it. I think you would too. Somewhat sad I thought.
Yeah for movies! Yah for blogging!
All for fun.

When we watched Memoirs of a Geisha HG wondered away too :-) I watched it to the end but it left me feeling sad. Not a film I would watch again but am pleased I had the chance to see it.

Dear Chris,
It was a sad movie. I think most likely the reality is even sadder.
The music was great!
I also would not need to watch it again.
I have been watching dramas and I really am ready for some funny or some historical.
