Summer shows

We saw "Cave of Forgotten Dreams"
while in Portland, Oregon.
I love the subject.
These 32,000 year old cave paintings
are awesome.
I did not care for the 3-d filming.
I would have enjoyed the film more with less Warner Hezog and more time looking at the Paleolithic Art.
Even with all my reservations I am still happy
these images have been filmed.

The kids sent home some shows for us to watch during summer reruns. I like the t.v. series  Castle and Bones.
I think the actors were on these series.
I never have watched a Buffy episode.
My daughter gave the scary warning.
I might not take.

I have requested a few movies from the library
that the kids suggested.
I also am planning a movie night out.
I want to see
"Cowboys and Aliens."
I think Harrison Ford is a cowboy.
Yet I always seem to support the aliens.

April's Music and few more movies

My study of coffee this month has been enhanced
by listening to music.

My study of France has been delightful.

Claude Bolling is my favorite musician.

He is the best.

These are some of my favorite classical pieces.

We have had a few rainy days this month.

I am adding the works of Shakespeare to my monthly studies.

I found this BBC television series while looking in my
library's on line card catalog. One of my favorite activities is
searching in the card catalog.

I am so pleased to have a bit of archeology to watch.

Requests

I have begun requesting movies from the library.

I read there was going to be a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie
and I had never even seen the first.
So we are having a Pirate's festival.
Maybe when #4 comes out we will go to the theater!

I really enjoyed this film.
Makes me want to write a cookbook.
Something about fresh from the Kitchen Garden.
Camelot and Spring just seem like a perfect fit.
I am thinking about having a chick flick night.
Maybe one of my girlfriends would like to share a bowl of popcorn and a sing along!

Christmas Music

We have been listening to lots of music
this holiday season.
We listen to many different types of music .
Today we have chosen ancient sacred music
and chants.
We change what type of music we listen to.

In December we also listen to old English carols

and new compositions.

A few great movies

We just finished watching Amelie.
I enjoyed this film.
I was totally entertained.

This was so fantastic!
I have seen Cirque Du Soleil live and would love to see all their shows.

Michael Clayton was an interesting movie.
It took me awhile to understnad and to even care what was happening.
I almost quit the movie after the first half hour. It finally grabbed me.

This Nature program made me want to go to Yellowstone in the winter.

is January 15-25th.
Lots of fun!

Nature

This Nature program was filmed in
Yellowstone National Park
during December.
Fantastic footage.

"Anotonia's Line" was an interesting story.
I enjoyed the setting and the filming as well as the acting.
I never noticed the sub titles.

My favorite movie of 2008 was
"Secret Lives of Bees."

Life in the Undergrowth

David Attenborough takes us on an incredible journey
into the insect world.

The macro lens opens this world to us.

There are five programs on these two discs.
Fantastic filming, quality information about the
amazing world of bugs!

The Man Who Planted Trees

This thirty minute short film was beautifully told.
The animation seemed to rise off a page of a book.
Sweet and simple.
I found the film on line if you would like to watch
just click the link and enjoy.

Persepolis

My daughter sent Persepolis for me to read.
An important story to read.

When the movie came out I waited for it to come to DVD.

I was spell bound.
Not a happy movie but a story that needed to be told.
Do watch it.

The link will take you to a preview.

Persepolis.

The Life of Birds

We have been watching the BBC series
The Life of Birds.

Each disc has three programs covering different aspects of a bird's life.
The photography is fantastic.

There is one more disc.
Three more programs.
These will be about the life of the egg.
This is an amazing series.
